This type of flange has a low shock and vibration resistance. This type of flange is ideal for low pressure applications because of its strength at the internal pressure of about one third of the weld neck flange. And its configuration creates a flow noise in the pipeline. The inner welds tend to be easier to corrode than the weld neck flange type.
